The new business environment under the MoU

In the context of providing support to local businesses, PwC Cyprus organised an event with the topic “The new business environment under the MoU. Prospects and challenges - Paphos in the midst of the crisis”. The event was organised on Wednesday, 29 May 2013 at Aliathon Hotel in Paphos.

The conference which was mainly addressed to owners and executives of businesses operating in the city of Paphos focused on the new business environment after the signing of the MoU as well as on overcoming current business challenges. The event was addressed by the Mayor of Paphos, Mr Savvas Vergas and by the President of Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr George Leptos. Mr Pantelis Evangelou, Direct Tax Partner at PwC Cyprus analysed the main provisions of the memorandum and their impact on entrepreneurship, while Mr Elias Dinenis, Rector of the Neapolis University focused on the ways of exiting the economic crisis using examples from other countries.

Particular emphasis was placed on the ways of supporting entrepreneurship both through the presentation of Mr Philippos Soseilos, Advisory Services Partner at PwC Cyprus and the panel discussion which followed.

Participants of the panel discussion that focused on the new business environment of Paphos, included Messrs Elias Dinenis, Pantelis Evangelou, Marios Kedaritis, Hellenic Bank, Polys Polydorou,  Piraeus Bank and Matheos Charalambides, Eurobank. The discussion was moderated by Mr Angelos Loizou, Partner, In charge of Local Compliance Services at PwC Cyprus who confirmed the support of the organisation towards local businesses in order to overcome the new challenges presented after 15 March. Summarising the key points of the event Mr Loizou said that local businesses should reconsider their strategy, re-examine their priorities and identify the new opportunities presented by the crisis.
