This course provides an understanding of the functioning of the financial system, placing particular emphasis on its architecture and the relevant regulatory framework within which it operates. Emphasis will be placed on the case for regulatory intervention in the financial system, the policy objectives and the measures/tools to achieve them. The knowledge acquired in this course is a prerequisite for participants wishing to understand and deepen their knowledge on the international financial system, financial regulation and financial firms.
