In 2016 they stood at €1,878 and in 2015 at €1,883 a month.
The improved economic climate is also reflected in the drop in the number of registered unemployed – down an annual 20.5% in 2018 to 26,766 from 33,681 in 2017.
In 2016 registered unemployed numbered 38,593, in 2015 they stood at 43.159 and in 2014 at 47,197. In 2013, at the height of the economic crisis, they numbered 46,765.
The best year of the decade was 2008 with 11,541. A year later they were up to 17,505 and in 2010 had climbed further to 22,842.
In 2011 and 2012, numbers were up further to 28,276 and 36,362 respectively.
As regards the registration of new companies, there was a 6.2% increase in 2018 to reach 14,521 from 13,677 in 2017 and 13,645 in 2016.
This was a significant increase over the 2015 and 2015 figures of 11,270 and 11,169 respectively.
