5 bids for traffic camera tender

Five companies have submitted bids for the traffic camera contract ranging from €26.99 million to €36.35 million, the Transport Ministry said on Monday.

The bids are: PolCam Systems Sp. z o.o. €26,999,997.00;  Logicom Solutions Ltd €34,785,078.00, Avonside Holdings GmbH €32.748.880.00, Egis Projects €36.335.001.11 and Conduent State and Local Solutions Inc €34,076,970.00.

The ministry said the tender provides for the supply, installation, maintenance and operation of 90 fixed traffic cameras to detect violations of the red light, the stop line and speed at traffic lights and 20 mobile speed cameras.

The contract is for five years with an option to extend for another two.

Cyprus has been without traffic cameras for 12 years after the company awarded the contract was successfully challenged in court by a competitor.

Police have long been calling for the return of cameras they say will be instrumental in reducing fatalities and making roads safer.
