Talking to the press, the ambassador also said: “Political trust between our two countries has always been solid. `One China, One Cyprus` is our common catch phrase.”
The ambassador added that the scheduled visit of Yi will further consolidate the traditional friendship between the two countries and push forward mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
The Chinese Minister will meet President Nicos Anastasiades before holding talks with his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides.
The two sides will exchange views on China-Cyprus relations, the Cyprus issue and other issues of mutual interest, added the ambassador.
He added that China supports the UN-brokered Cyprus peace talks aiming to reunite the divided island and insists that an overall settlement should be based on relevant UN resolutions.
Anastasiades paid “a successful visit to China” in October and the ambassador said that was “of great significance in promoting the development of bilateral ties.”
