Company registration applications up by 14.7% in January 2017

New companies registered with the Department of the Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver this January were up by 14.7% compared to the same month of 2016, making January the 17th month in a row with an upward trend.

Data released by the Registrar on Thursday show that the number of applications for the registration of a new company came to 1,062 in January 2017 compared to 916 last January, recording an increase of 14.7%.

The number of applications seeking the Registrar’s approval for a company name came to 2,164 this January compared to 2,066 in January 2015, recording an increase of 4.7%.

The total number of registered companies as of January 31, 2017 stood at 209,413. Within January 920 new companies were registered. New registrations of foreign companies came to 6.
