Company registrations increase 17% in April 2016

The number of new company registrations rose in April by 17% to 1,029 compared to the respective month of 2015, the department of company registrar and official receiver said recently.

In January to April, the number of new company registrations rose 24% to 4,278, the department said in an emailed statement on Thursday.

In April, the number of applications for brand names rose an annual 11% to 2,080, while in the first month of the year they rose 19% to 8,874, the department said.

Submissions of other documents fell 11.7% and 2.7% in April and in January to April to 10,087 and 42,458 respectively, the department said. The issue of certified copies rose an annual 7.3% to 24,508 in April. It was as much as it increased in the first four months of the year, when the department issued a total of 101,464 certified copies of documents.
