Company registrations up 1.2% in July 2017

The number of company registrations rose an annual 1.2% in July 2017 to 1,304 and 1.3% to 7,750 in January to July, the Department of Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver said.

The number of applications for company names rose last month 5.1% to 2,359 and 2.3% in January to July to 16,027 compared to the respective period last year, the department said in a statement on its website.

The number of certified copies issued dropped in July an annual 1.2% and rose 3.4% in the first seven months of the year to 25,016 and 185,866 respectively, the department said. Finally, the submission of other documents dropped 7.5% last month to 10,689 and rose 2.6% to 76,679 respectively.

The number of company registrations is an indicator of the performance of the business service sector.
