Εconomic Sentiment Indicator in Cyprus reaches all time high in January 2018

Economic Sentiment reached an all time high in January 2018 in Cyprus, peaking at 117.8 points (highest value since the introduction of the index in 1990), according to the Directorate General of Economy and Finances of the European Commission.

According to ESI data published today, economic sentiment increased form 115.7 in December 2017 and111.6 points a year earlier (February 2017). For comparison purposes: the lowest rate ever recorded in Cyprus was 67.8 points, in April 2013.

More specifically, in Cyprus confidence in the Industry stood at 10.7 points, in Services at 45.3, Consumer Retail at 0.8, in Trade at 8.0 and in Construction at -22.8 points.

Meanwhile, in January, the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) decreased slightly from its 17-year high in both the euro area (by 0.6 points to 114.7) and the EU (by 0.4 points to 114.7).
