Construction output rises 11% in Q2 2016

Construction activity in Cyprus rose an annual 11% in the second quarter of the year, in which producer prices dropped 3.9%, the statistical service said.

The construction output index rose in the second quarter to 50.7 from 42.6 in January to March, and is the second highest since 2013, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Wednesday.

The output in buildings rose an annual 5.3% in the second quarter to 54 while the civil engineer projects rose 34% to 42.2, Cystat said.

In a separate statement, Cystat said that producer prices in construction rose 0.8% for buildings in April to June to 94.8%, and dropped 13% to 101.4 for civil engineer projects.
