No new deaths were reported.
The new cases are a result of 2,062 tests. The breakdown is as follows:
Two of the new cases were identified via contact tracing and a result of 97 tests.
Three of the new cases were identified as a result of 1009 private initiative tests.
Out of 241 tests carried out by public hospital labs, no new cases were found.
From 651 tests on people recently repatriated, none were found.
“We are particularly pleased with the small number of new cases and the continuous reduction of patients in ICUs,” said Okypy’s Marios Loizou.
“The expected improvement in the weather in combination with the developments in medicine gives us the right to further optimism.”
From 64 tests, as part of the wider testing initiative on 2,000 workers in the food and drinks industry and nursing homes, no new cases were found.
As of 3pm on Wednesday, there were 13 patients at the Famagusta referral hospital being cared for with one of them at the intensive care unit.
Four patients are intubated in ICUs with three in Nicosia and one in Limassol.
On May 5 there were four new cases and on May 4 there were just two cases – the lowest number of confirmed infections since the first two were reported two months ago.
