Credit card spending up 35% in Q1 2019

Credit card spending rose by 35% in the first three months of the year compared to 2018, JCC said recently while a monthly increase for March of €307,182,374 or 15% was seen.

The use of local cards overseas saw a 6% increase in March and 5% for the year to date.

Foreign cars use in Cyprus increased by 15% in March and by 25% for the year so far.

The sectors for which local cards used in Cyprus have increased are government, supermarkets, utilities, restaurants, bars and catering while there has been a decrease in spending for clothing, shoes, accessories and in DIY household shops.
