CSE Chairman appointed member of FESE board

Cyprus Stock Exchange Chairman Marios Pilavakis says his appointment as a member of the Board of the Federation of European Securities Exchange (FESE) is a great success.

The FESE General Assembly, during a meeting in Brussels on December 10, unanimously agreed on the appointment of Pilavakis as a member of the Board for three years.

“This is a great success for the small stock-market of Cyprus since it will be represented and it will have an important role in the European markets” Pilavakis told the Cyprus NewsAgency.

He noted that Cyprus will have a say in the policy of the European stock-markets.

CSE Chairman said his appointment was important also because there is no other representative of south-eastern Europe in the FESE Board.

Pilavakis became the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Stock Exchange last June. Previously he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Stock Exchange (2005 – 2010) and as a Vice-Chairman (2011- 2015).

He will join the following members to the Board:

FESE President: Deirdre Somers, Irish Stock Exchange
FESE Vice President: Martin Reck, Deutsche Börse
Carlos López Marqués, BME
Michael Buhl, CEESEG
Uwe Schweickert, Deutsche Börse
Lee Hodgkinson, Euronext
Tim Grange, ICE
Robert Scharfe, Luxembourg Stock Exchange
Magnus Billing, NASDAQ
Bente A. Landsnes, Oslo Børs
Ian Cornwall, SIX Swiss Exchange

FESE represents thirty six exchanges in equities, bonds, derivatives and commodities through nineteen full members from thirty countries. At the end of 2014, FESE members had up to 9,051 companies listed on their markets.
