Cyprus and Egypt look to enhance cooperation

The Agriculture Minister has discussed ways to further enhance cooperation between Cyprus and Egypt.

Nicos Kouyialis held a meeting recently with Egyptian Ambassador in Nicosia Hussein Abdelkarim Tantawy Mubarak.

The two men agreed for a trilateral meeting (Cyprus, Egypt, Greece) to take place on the side-lines of a Barcelona Convention meeting, in Athens, in February 2016, on matters related with the protection of the sea and the marine environment from the effects of the exploitation of undersea mineral resources, an official press release issued says.

Kouyialis reiterated Cyprus’ willingness to further enhance cooperation with Egypt in agriculture, farming, fish farming, facilitating the trade of agricultural products, mainly halloumi, as well as in environmental matters and water management.

He asked for the assistance of Egyptian authorities in order for substantial work to begin in this direction, by involving the private sector in both countries, the press release says.
