Cyprus – Germany eye business collaboration

Minister of Energy George Lakkotrypis and German Ambassador to Cyprus Nikolai von Schoepff have agreed to work on bringing more manufacturing companies to Cyprus.

The two officials met at the Ministry of Energy on Thursday and exchanged views about a wide range of issues such as energy, tourism and renewable energy, according to a German Embassy press release.

“As part of the bilateral relations between Germany and Cyprus one important aim is to strengthen the economic relations between the two countries” the German Ambassador said, adding that this can be achieved by bringing more small and mid-sized business to Cyprus, something which he is eager to promote.

The Ambassador added that he sees Cyprus as a country with great potential in becoming a business hub in the area of the eastern Mediterranean.

“German business should use Cyprus, an EU-member, much more as a gateway to the countries of near and Middle East in order to expand business relations.”
