Cyprus green lights salt lake photovoltaic park

A private company has been given permission to create an electricity-producing photovoltaic park in the vicinity of Larnaca’s Salt Lake.

The Town Planning Department passed on two applications from Denman Energy Ltd to the Environmental Authority for further examination. The authority subsequently rejected one of the applications as the requested area fell within the Natura 2000 land but approved the second, which falls within the Meneou-Dromolaxia municipality.

The project that will be going ahead will see a 2.6 MW photovoltaic park situated in the Dourali area, by the southern fences around Larnaca Airport.
