Cyprus Hoteliers optimistic for bookings in the next three months

Chairman of the Cyprus Hotel Association Charis Loizides on Tuesday expressed his optimism that tourist bookings in the months of July, August and September will cover the losses that were recorded in the tourist industry over the last two months.

Speaking to the press, Loizides said that July, August and September are known as the busiest months and there is hope to some extent that these months will be able to cover the losses or at least a great part of them. Loizides went on to say that, due to the economic crisis, the Cypriot hoteliers have come up with a number of deals for their foreign customers and there is a 20-25% decrease in the prices.

He also said that in the following weeks the hotel owners will publicize offers for Cypriots as well, noting that Cypriots account for only 7% of the total accommodations throughout the year. He pointed out that by the end of April the tourist industry has recorded a decrease of 12.5%. Loizides also said that in the following months there will be an increase in the hiring of unemployed persons as part of the measures announced to restart the economy.
