Cyprus' Investment Funds assets at €2.7 billion in March 2016

Investment Funds assets amounted to €2,693 million in March 2016, marking a reduction of 6.7% compared December 2015, figures released recently by the Central Bank of Cyprus show.

Total deposits of the 75 investment funds amounted to €200.5 million compared with €216.7 million in March 2015.

In March 2015 total assets owned by the then 78 investment reporting entities amounted to €3.039,8.

Equity funds held the lion`s share of the total assets with a balance sheet amounting to €1.98 billion, compared with €2.20 billion in December 2015, followed by mixed funds, which invest both in shares and debt securities, with assets amounting to €360.4 billion compared with €369.7 million in December 2015.

Assets held by funds investing mainly in real estate amounted to €192.9 million from €185.4 million in December 2015, whereas bond funds’ assets in March 2016 amounted to €25.5 million compared with €25.9 million in December 2015. The assets held by other funds amounted to €131.6 million from €97.3 million in December 2015.

Of the €2.69 billion of assets held by investment funds in March 2016, assets of €2.20 billion were held by closed funds and the remaining €487.7 by open funds.
