Cyprus is a success story, IMF says

Director of the IMF Communications Department Gerry Rice, has said that “Cyprus is a success story” and that recent return to growth shows the efforts undertaken to implement difficult reforms are beginning to pay-off.

Rice was replying to a journalist’s question in view of the completion on Friday of a Troika visit to Cyprus.

“Cyprus is a success story”, he said.

He added “an IMF team is in Nicosia with our European partners discussing with the authorities the policies they can meet for the completion of the eighth review of the Cyprus’ reform program supported by the IMF”. The team, he continued, is expected to end their visit tomorrow Friday July 24th.

Rice further noted that “the recent return to growth is obviously good news for the country and the Cypriot people”.
