Cyprus participates in SME Assembly in Italy

The main issues faced by small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Europe were discussed during the 3rd SME Assembly that took place in Naples, Italy, from October 1 to 3, 2014.

The issues for SMEs are access to financing, access to third country markets, the reduction of the administrative burden, the development of appropriate business skills, and the digitalisation of business procedures.

The Assembly, which was also attended by officers of Cyprus’ Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, discussed ways to support SMEs and special reference was made to incorporating entrepreneurship in education.

Furthermore, the Conference highlighted the importance of SME in the integration of the Internal Market, and the internationalisation of their activities in third countries.

The ‘Growth Through Enterprise: Exploiting the Opportunities Ahead’ Assembly was wrapped up with the European Enterprise Promotion Awards.
