Cyprus' planning for privatisations intact

The government’s planning on important issues, such as privatisations, has not been altered due to the approval of cutbacks to the 2017 state budget by the House of Representatives, said the Minister of Finance, Harris Georgiades.

Speaking on public radio, the Minister said that it is the responsibility and obligation of the government to promote important legislation.

Georgiades assured that significant reform bills will be presented to the House of Representatives soon, and he called on all parties to take up the responsibility.

Regarding cutbacks and amendments to the state budget, the Minister of Finance said that the situation will be examined thoroughly.

Georgiades pointed out that in spite of the cutbacks and amendments, the overall approval of the state budget allows the government to continue its work, and sends the appropriate messages to parties abroad.
