Speaking to an event organised by the Treasury, Georgiades pointed out that following the exit from the economic adjustment programme, the Cypriot economy has made steps towards restoring its credibility and presents strong growth, which is one of the highest in Europe.
“This positive prospect should not lead us to complacency simply because we still have road to cover,” he stressed.
He said that Cyprus has beaten every estimates both at home and abroad “which foresaw that Cyprus would remain bogged down in a vicious circle of recession and deficits.”
“But we have not yet fully vindicated the expectations of our fellow citizens which expect and demand the continuation of our effort with the same focus and consistency. And this exactly this is the government’s target,” he concluded.
