Cyprus records 0.7% deflation in January 2015

January 2015 inflation in Cyprus decreased at a rate of -0.7%, compared to 2014 , according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP).

The biggest price decreases were recorded in transport (-8.5%) housing, water, electricity and gas (-3.6%) and in the field of recreation and culture (-2.1%).

The largest increases were recorded in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.7%) and in food and non-alcoholic drinks (2.8%).

Inflation for December fell to a rate of -1% and in January 2015 it was  -1.6%.
