Cyprus records negative inflation in August 2015

Cyprus inflation was down to -1.9% in August 2015, compared to -2.4% in July 2015, while the rate was 0.8% in August 2014.

According to figures published Wednesday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, monthly inflation in the eurozone was down to 0.1% in August (0.2% in July). A year earlier, August 2014, the rate was 0.4%.

August inflation fell in eleven Member States. The lowest rate was registered in Cyprus (-1.9%), Romania (-1.7%) and Lithuania (-1.0%), and the highest in Malta (1.4%), Austria (0.9%) and Belgium (0.8%).

Compared with July 2015, inflation fell in fourteen Member States, rose in ten and remained stable in four.
