Cyprus reduces timeframe for COVID booster shots to 5 months and 2 weeks

Authorities in Cyprus have announced that the timeframe for people to receive their COVID booster shot has been reduced from six months to five months and two weeks following the completion of their initial vaccination scheme.

In a press release on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health said that it has decided, following the approval of the Cabinet on Monday, to reduce the amount of time when booster shots are given, whether with the 2-dose or 1-dose scheme.  This is because vaccine efficacy wanes over time and stronger protection is needed especially to protect against the omicron variant.

Citizens will be able to arrange a vaccination appointment via the Vaccination Portal from Wednesday onwards or they may visit the free access vaccination centres, the press release adds.
