Revenue from tourism rose in April 2016 5.7% to €137.9m compared to the respective month of 2015, the statistical service said.
In the first four months of the year, total revenue rose 12% to €285.5m which is 12% more compared to January to April 2015, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Friday.
In April and in January to April, total tourist arrivals rose 12% and 22% respectively according to Cystat.
In April, tourists visiting Cyprus shortened their average stay by 0.6 days to 8.5 compared to April 2016. This, combined with an annual 5.6% drop of average spending per person during their vacation to €611.37, which a 1.3% annual increase in average spending per day to €71.93 was unable to offset, prevented revenue from increasing at the same pace as arrivals.
