Cyprus trade deficit declines in 2013

The trade deficit in Cyprus saw a big decrease in the first nine months of 2013, down by €900 mlm in relation to the corresponding period of 2012, according to recent data released by Eurostat.

The total value of Cyprus exports during January - September reached €1.1 bln, an increase of 10% compared with the corresponding period of 2012. Imports were down 19% to €3.5 bln from €4.3 bln in the same period last year. The total trade deficit of Cyprus in the first eight months amounted to €2.4 bln from €3.3 bln in the same period of 2012.
