Speaking after the ITB travel show in Berlin, where Cyprus had a stand, Perdios said that in 2018 the island saw record tourist arrivals of almost four million, while revenues reached €2.7 billion.

We should not expect the surge in tourism that has marked the last few years to continue growing in the coming tourist season, Perdios said, noting that if we manage to retain tourism levels to those of last year, we can rest assured that the high figures of recent years have not been circumstantial.

Perdios added that this year, tourists may seek cheaper destinations, asserting that we should not rush to lower prices as we wish to keep a certain quality standard.

On Thursday, Perdios held a tripartite meeting with the tourist ministers of Greece and Egypt. Paths of closer cooperation between the tourist sectors of the three countries were discussed, Perdios said.
