Four to five drillings are expected to take place in Cyprus' Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the next twelve months, said Energy Minister Yiorgos Lakkotrypis.
By the end of 2018 there will be a clear picture of the island’s hydrocarbon resources and therefore decisions can be made about the exploitation steps, the minister added.
Speaking recently before the House Finance Committee which discussed the budget of his Ministry, Lakkotrypis said that Italian oil company ENI is expected to inform the Cyprus government in the next few days about its drillings in Block 9. He added that the company has already asked permission to drill in Blocks 6, 8 and 3, which include an environmental study.
