Eastern Mediterranean Gas Conference in Nicosia

Gulf Publishing Company is pleased to announce the fourth Eastern Mediterranean Gas Conference (EMGC) will once again be held in Nicosia, Cyprus on 14-15 March 2017.

The conference is sponsored by Deloitte and Cyprus Hydrocarbons Company and supported by Tiger Offshore, Petroleum Economist, World Oil, and Gas Processing.

Investment and activity in the region has shown a resurgence following Eni’s discovery of Zohr in 2015. Cyprus recently announced the results of its 3rd Licensing Round with blocks awarded to energy majors Eni, Eni/Total, and ExxonMobil/Qatar Petroleum. Israel has announced that it plans to launch its first auction round for energy development rights to five offshore blocks for natural gas development.

With natural gas demand in the region exceeding supply, development of the region’s gas discoveries is crucial. Eni has fast-tracked the development of Zohr, and elsewhere in the regionNoble and Delek are in the process of raising funds to develop the Leviathan and Greece’s Energean Oil & Gas is searching for a financial partner in its plans to develop the Tanin and Karish fields off the coast of Israel.

EMGC is the premier event for those interested in the opportunities the region presents. The conference brings together top executives, government officials, and regional experts involved in determining the natural gas policies of the Eastern Mediterranean for an in-depth discussion on the region’s latest developments, challenges and opportunities.

“This year’s event will focus on strategies to increase foreign investment and boost investor confidence, as well as how to enhance regional ties and cooperation to accelerate efforts to establish natural gas development in the region,” said John Royall, President and CEO of Gulf Publishing Company.

EMGC provides a special focus on the latest geopolitical, market and technology trends related to the exploration, drilling, production, processing and marketing of natural gas in the Eastern Mediterranean. Attendees will hear from eni SpA regarding their plans to develop the blocks they were recently awarded during Cyprus’ 3rd Licensing Round. Plus, Delek Drilling/Avner will discuss their ongoing plans in both the Tamar and Leviathan.

EMGC 2017 features keynote speakers: Luca Bertelli, Chief Exploration Officer, eni SpA and Dr. A.J. (Guus) Berkhout, Founder-Director of the Centre for Global Socio-Economic Change. Additional participants include: Yaniv Friedman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Delek Drilling/Avner; Matteo Restelli, Gas Infrastructure Development Manager, IGI Poseidon; Brenda Shaffer, Professor, School of Political Science, University of Haifa; Shaul Meridor, General Manager, The Ministry of Infrastructures, Energy and Water Resources, State of Israel; Dr. Panos Kelamis, Chief Executive Officer, Cyprus Hydrocarbons Company; Dr. Naji Abi-Aad, Chief Operating Officer, Petroleb; the Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Republic of Cyprus; the Ministry of Petroleum, Arab Republic of Egypt and more.
