Employee monthly earnings fall 0.9% in Q4 2015

Average employee monthly earnings fell to €2,156 from October to December 2015, a 0.9% drop relative to the respective quarter of 2014 and 0.2% compared with the third quarter to a seasonally adjusted €1,874, which is comparable to 2009, the statistical service said, citing preliminary data.

In the case of male workers, average earnings fell an annual 1.5% to €2,312 in the fourth quarter, and a seasonally adjusted 0.5% to €2,021 compared with the third quarter, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Wednesday.

Female employees saw their monthly earnings drop 0.3% in the fourth quarter to €1,979 compared with the respective quarter of 2014, Cystat said. Their seasonally adjusted monthly earnings fell marginally compared with the previous quarter to €1,709.
