German tourist arrivals set to increase in 2017

German tourist arrivals for 2017 are expected to be largely improved over last year’s figures with 180,000 Germans expected to visit Cyprus during the 2017 summer period.

The Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company Ltd (ETAL) which attended the Berlin Tourism Exhibition recently described the interest from German tour operators as positive.

“With an expected increase of around 56,000 arrivals it is a perfect opportunity to invest in a market of 55 million annual reservations,” announced ETAL through a statement adding that the German market showed trends for year-round tourism and not only during the high season.

Visitors to the ETAL stand at the exhibition were drawn to Limassol’s bicycle paths and routes as well as the offered activities, water sports as well as cultural tourism and agro-tourism offered by the city and wider Limassol district.

ETAL president Maria Stylianou Michaelidou also attended a function organised by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation attended by 100 travel bloggers with the aim of promoting Limassol over the internet while further meetings were held with tour operators and the media.

ETAL also took part in the Berlin Economic Forum where it aired its presentation – Limassol: Steps towards sustainable tourism and innovative branding – giving the 500 delegates and those following the Forum over the internet a chance to recognise Limassol not only as a tourist destination but as a business centre and the preferred place of residence for thousands of families from other countries.
