Incentives offered for the development of farmers’ markets all across Cyprus

The Agriculture Ministry has offered incentives for the development of farmers’ markets all across Cyprus so as to support producers who won’t need third parties to be involved.

This is what Philenews reported on Friday, adding that this is part of the government’s Rural Development Programme.

The development of a diverse range of local food networks and short supply chains – including farmers’ markets – is an agricultural scheme with a budget of  €500,000.

It provides incentives for the development and establishment of collaborations between different players in the agri-food sector as well as for the creation of local and farmers’ markets along with other types of short supply chains.

This means that producers will pocket more money from their sales.
