Increased traffic for official Paphos tourism website

The official website for the Paphos Tourism Board is boasting further success following the recent analytics report for 2013.

The site at www.visitpafos.org.cy features a vast range of activities and sites in the Paphos area for visitors to enjoy. It also includes events listings and details on airport bus services as well as links to The Culture Capital 2017 page.

Properly structured presentation and promotion of the tourism product are the reasons for the success of the site, the tourism board said. “The website contains specific information for the district with rich photographic material. The Archaeological sites, activities, nature, sports tourism, culture and tourist accommodation are presented under one platform, and organised in a multipurpose website.”

According to the latest web analytics, the site has seen a boost in visitors, which coincides with the addition of French to the available languages for the site.

In the 12 months from April 1 2013 until the end of March this year, the site had more than 130,000 visitors of which 80% were new visitors. The average user looked at 3.7 pages and spent an average of 2.3 minutes on the site, trends which the tourist body said it was very satisfied with.

The main countries of origin of users were the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Poland, Lebanon, the USA and Cyprus while the most popular days proved to be Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The pages which routinely got the most attention were accommodation, beaches, archaeological monuments, nature, golf and events. Interestingly, the use of mobile devise has risen. About 20% of visitors to the site used a mobile device to visit the site via the ipad, iphone and Galaxy devices.

The website is currently available in five languages (Greek, English, Russian, German and French) while the tourism board continues to upgrade the written and photographic material.
