Minister of Finance Harris Georgiades has outlined certain details of the government's plans as regards the future of Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta) to its employees.
Addressing the 10th Congress of one of Cyta’s trade unions PASE ATHK, Georgiades said that in parallel to the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta) a new state telecommunications company will be created.
The majority of operations of the semi-governmental organisation will be transferred to the new state company with a view to attracting a strategic investor or investors, he said.

Cyprus economy sees highest growth rate in five quarters
The Cypriot economy exhibited its highest growth rate in the last five quarters during the first quarter of 2024, with Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increasing by 3.5 per cent compared to the same quarter of 2023, according to a preliminary estimate by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).
