Online tool to help voters gauge party that best matches views

An online tool was created to help locals decide how to vote in the May 30 parliamentary elections by comparing their views with the positions of the main political parties.

Choose4Cyprus is a political profile tool that has gathered the positions of the main parties on a range of political issues to help voters understand which best suit their own political preferences.

After responding to a series of questions, users can then compare their answers to those of the political parties.

The positions of the parties were determined by a group of political scientists, experts and PhD candidates in various scientific fields after studying multiple sources and information, including interviews with candidates and party leaders as well as views of independent experts.

According to their website, “Choose4Cyprus is a purely non-profit programme and is not affiliated with any political party or organisation.”

So far, only the main political parties of the island including those participating in the national and EU parliaments are included in the platform due to “technical reasons and the lack of information about some parties”.

The tool was created by researchers from the Department of Communication and Internet Studies of the Cyprus University of Technology.

Interested parties can access the tool at https://www.choose4cyprus.eu/#!/.
