Mr. Olympios’ appointment comes at a crucial time for the Organisation’s management, which faces significant challenges, including the opening up of the electricity market, the implementation of major development projects and the completion of operational and accounting unbundling.
Panayiotis Olympios was born in Larnaca on February 20, 1960. In 1983, he obtained his first degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Salford and, in 1985, an M.Sc in Electricity Transmission and Distribution from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST).
He is a member of the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ΕΤΕΚ) and of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in the UK.
After working in the private sector for five years, he joined EAC in 1989, since when he has served in a variety of positions. Before his appointment as General Manager, Mr. Olympios was the Famagusta-Larnaca Area Network Manager.
He is active in numerous organisations and associations. He is married to Maria and has two daughters.
