Paphos promoted at tourism workshops in Baltic States

As part of ongoing efforts to increase visitor numbers to Paphos, the district will be promoted at a number of tourism workshops and presentations in the capital cities of Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia in May 2016.

A delegation from the Paphos regional board of tourism, and local hoteliers will travel to the area on Monday May 23 May 2016.

According to a spokesman for the tourism board, a series of workshops and presentations will be held on May 24 in the Lithuanian capital city of Vilnius, followed by a second in Riga, Latvia’s capital, and culminating on May 26 in Tallinn, the Estonian capital. Earlier this month, a similar campaign was launched in Finland, promoting the destination and local cuisine.

The spokesman said: “In each workshop, we are expecting in excess of 54 tour operators and travel agents. We have invited many contacts in these areas, invitations have been sent out and this has revealed a very strong interest in Paphos.”

This effort is part of the joint actions of the Paphos regional board of tourism and local businessmen, with the support of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation for attracting tourism on an all year-round basis, he noted.

“These countries have been chosen with this in mind and because there are adequate air connections already in place which directly connect Lithuania and Paphos, and Riga and Larnaca,” he added.

During the planned workshops and working dinners, attendees will have the opportunity to meet tour operators and through audio-visual presentations, there will be an opportunity given to travel agents to familiarise themselves further with what Paphos has to offer visitors.

He added: “The Paphos regional board of tourism considers that the Baltic market is an important one for all year round tourism to the area. This is mainly due to the regular air link it has with Cyprus, good hotel infrastructure for winter travellers and competitive packages which are offered. Winters in Paphos are also packed with off- peak activities, which all help Paphos to be an ideal destination for the winter season.”
