Taxisnet filing deadline extended to December 15

The department of inland revenue has extended the deadline for employees to file their tax returns for 2019 to December 15.

ax returns were due at the end of October and this was later extended to November 30.

But with only 60% of taxpayers having filed by Thursday and with the Taxisnet website experiencing technical difficulties amid a rush of submissions, the deadline was pushed back again, with the finance ministry issuing a decree on Friday – only three days before the deadline.

Tax returns must be submitted by employees with an annual gross income of €19,500 and above as well as self-employed who do not submit audited accounts.

The department has also extended the deadline for the payment of any outstanding tax for self-assessed tax for 2019 to December 15.

This year’s filings were initially delayed by the introduction of the general health scheme (Gesy) the coronavirus outbreak and technical issues but were up and running as from late September on https://taxisnet.mof.gov.cy/login.jsp.

Taxpayers must first register on TaxisNet. Returns can only filed online. Any outstanding tax can only be paid electronically.
