The three are Fig Tree Bay in Protaras resort which was described as `the best beach in Protaras,’ Makronissos beach in the Ayia Napa resort, described as `the most perfect beach in Cyprus' and Konnos Bay situated between Ayia Napa and Protaras described as `dream waters.’

Mayor of Ayia Napa, Yiannis Karousos on Friday welcomedthe results of the popular website, saying that all three beaches are of a truly natural beauty.

Fig Tree Bay ranked ninth, Makronissos 17th, and Konnos Bay 23rd.

Playa de Ses Illetes in Formentera, Balearic Islands, was chosen as best beach in Europe, followed by Elafonissi Beach in Elafonissi, Greece, Praia da Marinha in Carvoeiro, Portugal, El Cotillo Beach & Lagoons in El Cotillo, Spain and Playa de Boloniain Tarifa, Spain.

The list with the best 25 beaches in Europe also includes five more beaches in Greece – Porto Limnionas Beach in Zakynthos, Balos Beach and Lagoon in Kissamos, St Paul’s Bay in Lindos, Sarakiniko Beach in Milos and Egremni Beach in Lefkada.
