Tourist interest in Cyprus riding high in 2015

Cyprus is still without a doubt a preferred destination for many tourists, where more Russians and Germans are still looking into booking a summer holiday according to Trivago.

A recent Trivago study, a well-known travel search engine shows that interest in Cyprus has climbed by 26.7% compared to last year.

Trivago, a Greek-based company, provides a lot of special deals and tourists can book travel and hotel online on some of the lowest prices and package deals.

Germans looking to book with Trivago have gone up from 4% last year to 6% this year, while Russians have gone up from 7% last year to 10% this year.

The biggest interest this year comes from Greece and England, just like last year. The only difference is that England was at the very top last year but Greece climbed up all the way to the summit this year.

The study does not analyse whether or not all trips will go as planned, but their source has been a pretty good indicator over the years on air traffic to and from Cyprus.

Data was collected between April 1 and July 19 regarding booked trips to take place between July 1 and August 31.

Cyprus officials expect a downturn from Russian visitors this year, but not as steep as initially thought. A 25% drop had initially been reported, but CTO has additional figures showing the overall tourist influx will be higher this year because traditional markets are still going strong.

Overall tourist arrivals for 2015 are expected to be up.
