The turnover of retail trade increased in the first two months of 2016, the Statistical Service announced recently.
On the basis of provisional estimates, the Turnover Value Index of Retail Trade for February 2016 increased by 4.0% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 72.6 units (base 2010=100), the Service said.
For the period January-February the index is estimated to have recorded an increase of 2.2% compared to the same period of 2015, it added.
Furthermore, the Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade for February increased by 8.6% compared to the same month last year and reached 75.6 units (base 2010=100).
For the first two months of the year, the index is estimated to have registered an increase of 5.1% compared to the same period of 2015.
