US makes $500m investments in Cyprus

U.S. Ambassador John. Koenig said over the last 18 months, U.S. businesses and investors have put just over a half a billion dollars’ worth of investment into Cyprus.

Addressing the Economist Conference in Nicosia, U.S. Ambassador John Koenig said ”Over the last 18 months, U.S. businesses and investors have put just over a half a billion dollars’ worth of investment into Cyprus’ banks, businesses, and offshore energy businesses. Every month our Embassy is contacted by a new American company looking to learn more about opportunities Cyprus.”

Koenig also called on both Greek and Turkish Cypriots to listen more closely to each other and work with the United Nations in order to resume settlement talks as soon as possible.

He said that relations betweenWashington and Nicosia had improved after a re-orientation of foreign policy by the Anastasiades administration.
