Wholesale trade continued to rise in the fourth quarter according to the latest data released by the Statistical Service, Cytsat.
The turnover index for the wholesale trade sector excluding motor vehicles rose over the year earlier by 3.7% in the fourth quarter.
For 2016 as a whole, wholesale trade turnover excluding the vehicles rose by 1.2%, with household goods rising the most (6.2%) and information and communication equipment falling by 12.1%.
Once vehicles are included, the wholesale turnover index shows an even bigger rise. Trade including motor vehicles rose in the fourth quarter by 7.2% in the fourth quarter and 12.6% for the whole year.
Registrations of motor vehicles rose by 31.4% to 33,805 in January-December 2016.
