The Cyprus Bar Association (CBA) is the regulatory and professional body representing approximately 4,500 registered practicing advocates in Cyprus. Established in 1960 under the Advocates Law, Cap. 2, the CBA has continuously operated as a key institution within the Cypriot legal system.
Its core mission is to represent and support the interests of its members, safeguard the independence of the legal profession, and uphold the rule of law. The CBA is a full member of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), representing more than 1,000,000 practicing lawyers across Europe. It also holds membership in several other international legal organisations, including the International Bar Association (IBA), the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA), the European Lawyers Foundation (ELF), the Mediterranean Bar Association, and the Union of the Balkan Bar Associations.
