Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London in 1969, and after a four year spell with the National Audit Office in Cyprus, John founded the firm under the name Pavlou,Poyiadjis & Co.
Over thirty years of experience have made John an expert on most accounting practices disciplines, but he is presently concentrating in the field of international taxation, personal taxation and personal financial advice, while also heading the firm's insolvency division. He has been an author of a large number of publications both in the local and international press.
John does a lot of work, and has served both as a representative in the House of Parliament as well as on the board of directors of semi government organisations.
Susana is the Senior Partner of Nexia Poyiadjis, and the head of the Audit and Assurance Department. Along with her audit portfolio, Susana specializes in assurance and other risk compliance services for investment firms and funds, and practices in the field of internal audit. Susana has a legal degree (LLB Law) from the University of Bristol (UK).
Before joining Nexia Poyiadjis, Susana’s career started in the United Kingdom where she joined Smith & Williamson in 1999. Susana worked for three years in the audit department and obtained her ACA qualification. Thereafter she joined Morgan Stanley, as an analyst in the internal audit department.
Her major audit clients in Nexia Poyiadjis include local and international companies active in the following industries: financial services, investment companies, funds, real estate, shipping and software engineering.
Susana is also a member of the Auditing Standards Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC), a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, a member of the Association of the Certified Fraud Examiners and is certified by the Ministry of Finance to supervise the internal audits of regulated banks and investment firms. She turned into a Fellow Chartered Accountant in December 1st 2012.
Raffi is a business assurance partner focusing on the audit of national companies and the preparation of Capital Statements for submission to the Inland Revenue. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Raffi joined the firm in 1984 and trained and attained membership of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants. Since then he has obtained a lot of valuable experience within the field of auditing and has a portfolio of clients comprising of various market leaders within the Cypriot industry. He has contributed towards various publications including Tolley’s “Financial Reporting around the World”.
Raffi specializes in the manufacturing, transportation and agriculture sectors and is the partner in charge of all client Capital Statements and Provident Funds.
Michael is the Head of the Tax department at Nexia Poyiadjis. Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University College of London and a master’s degree in Finance and Investment from the University of Brunel, UK.
Michael’s career started back in 2001 where he commenced employment with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Cyprus as a trainee accountant in the audit department. In 2003 he joined the tax department where he qualified as an ACCA in 2004 and stayed with PwC until 2010 before joining Nexia Poyiadjis.
During his career in PwC Michael was in charge of a wide portfolio of multinational and local clients, active in the fields of real estate, financial/investment services, etc. Furthermore, he was the tax manager in charge of one of the biggest local banking groups engaging in both financial and insurance services.
Michael’s experience adds great value to the clients of Nexia Poyiadjis, especially in advising clients with their initial structuring/set ups, group reorganisations and restructurings, tax due diligence engagements and other tax matters. Michael also plays an active role in the training team delivering tax seminars within the firm and to our clients.
Michael is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Cyprus (ICPAC) since 2005 and turned into a FCCA in 2010.
Maria has 20 years of professional experience and served as a Director in KPMG. Her extensive audit experience involves, amongst others, overseeing wide portfolios of audit clients in various business sectors, auditing large and complex consolidations of listed, unlisted and offshore group of companies, recording control systems and testing control procedures of public companies designing of internal controls, due diligence, reorganizations, flotation and liquidations processes of major companies both locally and abroad and delivering audit, IFRS and other related seminars within the firm.
She is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FAAT), a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) and a Member of the Auditing Standards Committee of ICPAC.
Melina is heading the Human Capital Department and the Human Capital Advisory Services of Nexia Poyiadjis. She has a BSc degree in Business Administration from the University of Nicosia and also studied at ESC Rennes School of Business in France, where she was exposed to the international aspect of Business and HR management. She has moved on to obtaining her MBA degree at the Open University of Cyprus, with particular emphasis on HR management, leadership and dispute resolution.
Before joining Nexia Poyiadjis, Melina gained her experience in human resource practices across a variety of market leading companies amongst the industries of Financial Services, Telecommunications, and Food & Beverage, giving her the expertise of managing staff matters during difficult corporate changes and developments. Her comprehensive human resource experience involves, among others, Recruitment & Selection, Training & Development, Company Policies and Procedures design and implementation, Handling Employee Relations and Organizational Development.
