Proposal for three high-rise buildings at Coral Bay

An application has been been submitted for three high-rise buildings – of nine, eight and six floors – in Peyia, next to the Coral Beach Hotel, and for an additional floor to the existing hotel, according to press reports.

It said the proposal has been submitted to the Town Planning and Housing Department which had earlier rejected an application for the construction of 11 and 13 floor towers as they were deemed incompatible with the character of the area, characterised by detached houses, holiday homes (up to 1-2 floors) and two existing 4-storey hotels.

The proposed three new buildings will consist of 93 apartments and will be connected to each other. In the middle will be the tallest of the three buildings. The company will make use of the incentives for high-rise buildings as well as other incentives.

The press said the application is under review and will also be discussed with Peyia Municipality. Citing sources, the media said the municipality disagrees with the project because of the height of the buildings.
