Geopolitics Meets Arbitration: A Must-Attend CAD 2026 Side Event

We are excited to act as co-organiser and co-sponsor, alongside the Swiss Arbitration, of a high-level side event taking place in the framework of Cyprus Arbitration Day 2026.

The event, titled “Geopolitics and International Arbitration: Where Will Tariffs, Competition for Natural Resources and Re-armament Lead Us?”, will take place on 14 May 2026, from 09:00 to 11:00, at the Four Seasons Hotel Limassol.

In an increasingly complex global environment, geopolitical developments are no longer a distant influence but a central factor shaping international disputes. This session will explore how evolving global dynamics are redefining arbitration practice and outcomes.

Participation

Stavros Pavlou, Executive Chairman of Patrikios Legal and Swiss Arbitration Ambassador for Cyprus, will participate as a speaker in the second panel.

Programme

Panel 1: “Arbitrating Geopolitics: New Disputes and Trends”
Moderated by Panagiotis A. Kyriakou (Archipel)

Speakers:

  • Myrto Pantelaki (Hellenic Ministry of Defense)
  • Marily Paralika (Fieldfisher)
  • Sargis Grigoryan (Grigoryan Disputes)

This panel will examine how geopolitical tensions are driving new categories of disputes and what this means for arbitration practitioners.

Panel 2: “Enforcement Amid Geopolitical Tensions”
Moderated by Tatiana Minaeva (TM Arbitration)

Speakers:

  • Lezgin Polater (Archipel)
  • Stavros Pavlou (Patrikios Legal)
  • Michael Dunmore (Kennedys)

This discussion will focus on one of the most pressing challenges in international arbitration today: the enforcement of arbitral awards in a fragmented and politically sensitive global landscape.

Bringing together leading practitioners from across jurisdictions, the event will provide practical insights into the evolving intersection of geopolitics and arbitration.

As part of the official programme of Cyprus Arbitration Day 2026, this session is set to be a key highlight of the week.

The event is open to CAD 2026 Participants.
