The provisions of the EU Regulation setting up the new European Account Preservation Orders (Regulation No. 655/2014) will come into force on 18 January 2017. Under the new changes, creditors domiciled in participating EU Member States (which incorporates all Member States except for the UK and Denmark) will have the capacity to apply to freeze funds in a debtor's bank account in any other participating Member State using a single application form.

The founder and Managing Partner of the firm, Marios Eliades has had a distinguished presence in the public life of Cyprus for more than 30 years. He has served as Minister of Communications and Works, Chairman on the Boards of Directors of the Cyprus Petroleum Refinery company, the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, the Cyprus Bureau of Shipping, the Hippocrateion Private Hospital, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Cyprus. He has further served or is currently serving as non-executive director in a number of public and private companies including Cyprus Airways, Alliance International Reinsurance Public Company, Cyprus Hotels, Digimed Communications and others. Currently he is Director of the European Centre for Continuing Legal Education (ECCLE), Vice Chairman of the Law Division of the Geneva Group International and a Member of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Centre for Political Leadership. He is a member of the Nicosia Bar Association, the Cyprus Bar Association, the International Bar Association and the International Tax Planning Association. Marios studied Law and Economics at the University of Athens and qualified as a Barrister-at-Law from Gray’s Inn London. He pursued post-graduate studies in Management at the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD) in France and completed a post graduate programme on Economic Development and Social Reform at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
Georgios Papadopoulos is a Partner having joined the firm in 2007. He deals with corporate and commercial law. Amongst his other responsibilities within the firm, Georgios provides legal services to a number of international companies based in Cyprus. His practice also includes administrative law litigation before the Supreme Court of Cyprus dealing with disputes of companies with government departments.
Georgios graduated from the Faculty of Law, Queen Mary, University of London. He received his Master’s degree from University College London (UCL) in Corporate and Commercial Law specialising in banking, company law and financial markets regulation. In 2007 he completed the Bar Vocational Course qualifying as a Barrister-at-law. He is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association and of the Honourable Society of Gray's Inn.
Between 2007 and 2009 Georgios was a Lecturer of Business Law at the European University of Cyprus and is currently serving as a member of the external examiners board of the Cyprus Institute of Marketing for Commercial Law.
Georgios is also involved with the Cyprus Volleyball Association, serving as a member of the Dispute Resolution Committee of the Cyprus Volleyball Federation which decides on disputes between volleyball clubs and player/coaches.
Melina Karaolia is a Partner at the firm. Her work encompasses a diverse range of corporate and litigation matters. She advises clients in multiple commercial, civil law issues and business law disputes.
Melina concentrates on corporate and commercial litigation and arbitration. She advises and represents clients in international corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions and legal matters relating to project structuring and business development. She has further received training and experience in the negotiation and drafting of contracts for Oil and Gas.
Melina is one of the few qualified Arbitrators in Cyprus. She is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London as well as a Member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
She has been trained and is currently actively interested in working with Mediation. Her multiple practice areas also include information technology law, shipping law, company redomiciliations and competition law.
She graduated from the Law School of the University of East Anglia, UK, with an LLB Honors degree. Melina holds a diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from Queen Mary University (London) and is a qualified Barrister-at-Law, a member of Gray’s Inn London and the Cyprus Bar Association.
Andreas Hadjidemetrious joined the team at “Eliades & Partners” in September 2009. His main areas of practice includebanking law, labour law, criminal law, tort law, bankruptcy and wills and succession law and family law. Andreas graduated from the Democritus University of Thrace in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB). He is a qualified practising advocate having successfully completed his Bar Association Examinations in Cyprus in 2008 and is currently a member of both Nicosia and Cyprus Bar Associations. Additionally, Andreas is a member of the Judicial Committee of the Nicosia Football Federation since 2011. Head of the firm's Litigation Department, his motto is " My guidance are Plato's main principles: Temperance, Justice, Courage, Nobility and Truth."
