President Nicos Anastasiades on Thursday expressed the hope the economy can start rebounding once the coronavirus pandemic is over next year.

The EU Parliament has ratified an agreement with China to protect the names of 200 European and Chinese food specialties, including zivania, from counterfeiting with the deal likely coming into force early next year.

Five months have elapsed since the entry into force of the Trademarks (Amending) Law of 2020 (L. 63(I)/2020) and the Trademarks Regulations of 2020 (Κ.Δ.Π. 259/2020), replacing the majority of the previous legal provisions governing trademark protection in Cyprus. The revised legal framework transposes the Trademarks Directive (EU) 2015/2436 and the EU Trademark Regulation (EU) 2017/1001into Cyprus’ national legal order and aims to modernise the trademarks framework in Cyprus.

The Paphos regional board of tourism is continuing to strengthen the promotion of the area and has prepared an enhanced action plan with a budget of over €480,000, officials said on Tuesday.

The health ministry proceeded with the requisition of four doctors from the private sector in order to help the treatment of COVID-19 patients in hospitals of Larnaca and Famagusta.
